Ethics Assignment

Download and watch the powerpoint on Ethics and then fill out the worksheet (get worksheet from Mr. Wood)

E-mail Assignment

• If you don't have an e-mail account, create one. (See Mr. Wood if you need to know how to do this!)
• Write and send an E-mail Message to Mr. Wood (mwood@alpinedistrict.org)
  • The subject line of your account should be "Computer Tech E-mail Assignment" If the subject line isn't spelled correctly, I might not get it because I use a filter on my e-mail to grade this assignment.
  • In your message, tell me an appropriate joke that you think is funny and make sure and include your first and last name at the end of your e-mail.
• Write and send an E-mail Message to someone else in the class (get their e-mail address from them) and send a (BCC) of that message to Mr. Wood. The subject line of this e-mail should be "Computer Tech Favorite Movie" (If you don't know how to do BCC, ask me or someone else in class to help you!)
  • In the body of the e-mail message to a classmate, tell them your favorite movie.
• I will then send you an e-mail message that you will need to reply to. Once you have replied to my e-mail, you will get a score on this assignment.

Internet Assignment #1

Complete the following assignment after watching the powerpoint on Googology.

Powerpoint Assignment

Create a Powerpoint assignment of 9 slides (8 slides + a title slide). Your powerpoint will be all about computer viruses. You need to include information and specific examples about the following kinds of computer viruses:

Virus:
Boot sector virus
File Virus:
Macro virus:
Trojan Horse:
Time bomb:
Worm:
Logic bomb:
Attachment virus:

Here are a few possible sites where you could find some or all of this information:

Your powerpoint must contain: (Please see Mr. Wood if you need help doing these tasks!)

• Transitions (between the slides)
• Animations (on at least 3 different slides)
• 2 different slide layouts
• graphics on each slide
• text on each slide

When you are done, print your presentation using the format that will print all 9 slides on the same sheet of paper. Ask Mr. Wood if you need help doing this.

Word Assignments - Chapter 4

• Work on Lesson 4. Do the following lessons from the book:
• 4-1 to 4-8 (Print pages 1-3)
• 4-9 (Print page 3)
• 4-10 (Print page 2)
• Staple all 5 pages together and turn it in.

2. Navigate on the Shared Technology Drive to G:\COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY\Mr. Wood's Computer Tech Class\Terminology and watch the powerpoint on Computer Parts. Use it to complete the crossword puzzle (get from Mr. Wood)
3. Microsoft Word Assignments
   1. Open a clean WORD (not word pad or open office!) file and type the answers to questions 1-10 (except 6) in our orange textbook on page 23. Each question tells you which page in the text to review to find the answer. It may help you to go through the activities in chapter 1, but the only thing graded will be your answers to the above questions. In your Computer Tech Folder on your H drive, save this file with the name "WORD1-AfterYouRead.docx"
   2. Choose 6 of the "Key Terms" vocabulary on page 32 that you DON'T KNOW! If you know them all, choose 6 that you would have a hard time explaining on your own. Open a new document and type your six terms. Use pages 33-55 to help you find a definition for each term and type your definition next to the vocabulary words. Save this file as "Word2-Vocabulary.docx"
   3. On page 35, begin exercise 2-1. The documents you need can be found on the Shared Technology Drive at the following location:
      G:\COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY\Mr. Wood's Computer Tech Class\Unit 1\Lesson 2\data files
      (Click on Start, then Run and copy and paste the address into the run bar to take a short cut to this location!)
   4. Complete exercises 2-1 through 2-19 on page 55. When you finish, you will have four documents saved in your computer tech folder. They will be called "Schedule Memo", "Memo", "Meeting Notes", and "Flyer.
   5. When done, get a coversheet from Mr. Wood. Print all assignments, attach them to the coversheet and submit.
4. Complete Computer Parts Description sheet. Get from Mr. Wood. Use computer tech vocabulary sheet to make this assignment easy.
